Liverpool fan ‘stabbed’ outside Anfield amid violent CLASH with Roma supporters



A LIVERPOOL fan was allegedly attacked by a large group of Roma supporters outside a pub near the stadium which has left police appealing for information after a “serious assault”.

Police are looking into an incident minutes before the Champions League semi-finals kicked off tonight at 7.45 in Walton Breck Road which leads to the Liverpool FC stadium, Anfield.
Shocking videos shared on social media show a group of around 40 Roma fans attacking their counterparts, while witnesses claimed the Italians were using ther belts as weapons.
Authorities wrote on Twitter: "We are investigating a serious assault of a man outside the Albert pub on Walton Breck Rd at about 7.35pm.
"Officers are appealing to anyone with information, or mobile phone footage to contact our social media desk via twitter @MerPolCC or Facebook Merseyside Police CC"
An unconfirmed report also suggest that a Liverpool supporter was stabbed during the clash.
Daily Star journalist Jeremy Cross tweeted: "Hearing reports of a serious incident behind the Kop end following clashes between rival fans. 
Journalist Jonathan Northcroft confirmed the hostility of the environment: “Roma fans have just attacked Liverpool supporters with belts, outside the Albert.
“About 20. One guy down getting treatment.
“The Roma group came out of Venmore St, and attack was sudden. Picked an older Liverpool fan and attacked him.
"A lot of police around but they
"Poor guy is still down. Horrible stuff.
“Roma group were chased down the street before police arrived.”
Before the game, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp urged Reds fans to maintain good behaviour in a bid to prevent clashes from happening again.
He said: “In the stadium, do it again, outside the stadium please show the respect we have to show.
“This is such a fantastic club, an outstanding football family, known for a fantastic atmosphere all over the world so we don’t need to throw whatever at the bus of the opponent team.
“If we can do what we did creating an atmosphere in front of the stadium then let’s do it but show the respect they deserve. We are opponents on the pitch.”
